APPLICATION
FOR
ACWA MEMBERSHIP 2011
ACWA
members please make every attempt to earn money for your units
by completing an application for membership early. I am holding
a competition between Brigades as well as for a unit in each
Brigade. I am not sure of the reward but this is a big opportunity
for your unit to earn free income, before the start of the
next years events. All memberships turned into the club membership
coordinator before December 31 2010 earn $5 per membership,
not per application.
Thank you Mary Bowman

RE: Civil War Reenactment at Kearney Park
October 1 Time Travelers
October 2 & 3 The Civil War Revisited
Greetings from Kearney Park! Thanks
to the help of so many of you, plans are falling into place
for October. We’re excited and hope you are too. We’ve
had lots of good questions come our way over the past few weeks.
We thought it might be helpful if we shared a few with you.
Is the event an invitational? Yes, it is. We decided to move
to the invitational
format so that multiple clubs could come together to plan and
stage the weekend.
Is there a planning committee? There is and you are welcome
to be part of it. You are also welcome to send along any ideas
you have that you think might make
for a better event.
Who will be “in charge” of the event? As is always
the case, the responsibility will be shared by several people.
Event Host Fresno Historical Society (Carole Lester
& Jill Moffat)
Event Coordinator Charles Henry, CWRS
Confederate Command Chris Bowman, ACWA
2nd in command Mike McKinsey, NCWA
Union Command Tom Bispo, ACWA
2nd in command: Joe Fiffick, NCWA
Military Hospital Andy Hill, CWRS
Civilian Camp Jennifer Roger, NCWA
Time Travelers School Day Sharon Hiigel, Fresno Historical Society
Keith Bowles, NCWA
Will there be powder reimbursements? Yes, there will be and
we’ll be in touch with artillery units about the details.
If you have other questions that you would like to chat with
us about or suggestions you would like to share, please don’t
hesitate to get in touch with us. We welcome your ideas and
appreciate so much all your enthusiasm and expertise. We’re
having fun pulling together a number of gifts for a “reenactor
give-away” . . . . and think we’ve found a group
of young musicians you’ll enjoy . . .all acoustic and
very talented.
Looking forward to seeing you in October and working with you
to make
the event the best ever!

Reenacting
Community,
We are within the 30 day window for this
event so this is a quick note to remind everyone about the
HB Civil War Days
reenactment
Sept. 4th and 5th.
Always looked forward to, this event needs little or no
advertising. The reenactor turnout puts this event in the
top three of the year, and the spectator numbers require
them to get there early to
get a place to watch.
This event is an invitational event, open to reenactors
from any organization, and those participating as independents.
Your participation enables the Historical Society to continue
hosting this quality event. Comfortable weather in the midst
of a metropolitan area, yet, in a park setting, has all
the ingredients for a great weekend.
There is now a separate web site (http://hbcivilwar.webs.com/
) that
provides: · Updates· Event flyer
· Parking Pass· Reenactor and Civilian Forms/Registration·
Organizations and Non-Profit Group forms· Sutler
Forms
Since the HBHS has a website for their event, it is my understanding
they are no longer sending out individual emails or USPS
registration forms in advance of the event.
The exact time reenactors can enter the park has yet to
be determined. The time is controlled by the park maintenance
personnel and as soon as a time is determined it will be
posted to the http://hbcivilwar.webs.com/
website.
Do not arrive on the park property earlier than the arrival
time (to be posted). Any reenactor other than Col. Settle
or Col. Harrington that enters the park early, will be asked
to leave the event. The park is not going anywhere and we
will not start the event without you so there is no need
to cause any problems regarding this by sneaking into the
park early.
Please be mindful of the irrigation sprinklers and that
no one is to drive on the grass. Each year the HBHS has
to pay the park for damaged irrigation sprinklers. This
is money better left to the HBHS for their important work.
The Huntington Beach Historical Society and Huntington Beach
Park work very hard to provide you a well organized and
friendly event. Your cooperation is appreciated in advance.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact
me.
I look forward to seeing everyone there for a great
2009 Huntington Beach event.
